How to measure in 3 simple steps
To ensure the best fit for your furry friend, please follow these three easy steps:
- Chest: Measure around the widest part of your dog's chest, just behind their front legs.
- Back length: Measure from the base of the collar to the base of the tail.
- Neck: Measure around your dog's neck where their collar naturally sits.
Helpful tips: Keep the tape measure snug but not tight. Using two people and plenty of treats can make the process much smoother and more enjoyable for your dog!
Size chart
Every ready-made item has been measured flat by me, so you can double-check against your dog.
In each product listing, you will find the full measurements for that exact clothing: chest, back length, neck, leg opening, and weight. I have measured a lot of sizes over the years - if you measure your dog using the 3 steps above, you can quickly compare and pick the right size from the chart and from the listing.
All sizes are pre-shrunk and listed in cm. If your dog is between sizes, go up a size for a comfy, rub-free fit.
Why every jumper has its own measurements
S, M, L mean something different in every shop, but it doesn't mean it will fit YOUR specific dog. A 9kg Cockapoo and a 9kg Frenchie are completely different shapes!
That's why I don't just sell S, M, L. Every single ready-made jumper in my shop has been measured flat by me, and you will find its specific measurements in cm - chest girth, back length and neck - in each product listing.
Use the XS-XL chart below as a starting guide, then always check the actual cm for that exact jumper against your dog's measurements. Chest is the most important.
Use the measurements you've taken to find the best size for your dog:
Between sizes? Email me your dog's chest and back measurements, and I will check my fitting calculator and suggest the best fit.
Not sure about weight?
Weighing your dog can be a useful way to double-check their size! For small dogs, a kitchen scale works perfectly. For larger dogs, you can weigh yourself holding your dog, then weigh yourself alone, and the difference will be your dog's weight.
Funny FAQ: My dog hates being measured!
Don't worry, you're not alone! Many dogs aren't fans of the tape measure. The trick is to make it a positive experience. Use plenty of treats and praise, and try to measure during a calm moment. If your dog is really struggling, try breaking it down into smaller steps over a few minutes, rewarding them each time. You can also try measuring during cuddle time when they're already relaxed.
